Magnetic Horizons 2027 will take place at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) for its second iteration, building on the success of the inaugural event held earlier this year. Organised by the Magnetics Society in collaboration with the IOP Magnetism Group, this forward‑looking meeting will bring together the applied magnetics community to explore what lies on the horizon for the field.
The event will focus on emerging trends, technologies and challenges in applied magnetics, with contributions from leading speakers across academia and industry. Topics will reflect the breadth of modern magnetics, highlighting developments that cut across traditionally separate application areas and showcasing how advances in materials, measurement, sensors, modelling and manufacturing are shaping the future.
Magnetic Horizons 2027 aims to foster discussion, stimulate new ideas and create opportunities for collaboration by bringing together researchers, engineers, and end users from a wide range of sectors. Alongside the technical programme, the event will provide dedicated time for networking and informal exchange, helping to strengthen connections within the community and inspire partnerships that address shared challenges in applied magnetics.

TRAVEL
By Car
NPL’s Teddington site sits within the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), if your vehicle doesn’t meet the ULEZ emissions standards and is not exempt, you will need to pay a £12.50 daily charge to drive within the zone. You can check your vehicle and find out more details on the Transport for London Ultra Low Emission Zone website.

By Bus:
33, 281, 285, 481, R68 and SL7 all serve Teddington.

By Train:
Regular services connect Teddington with London Waterloo in approximately 30 minutes.
From Heathrow airport:
Routes 285, and the faster SL7 both connect Teddington with Heathrow Airport. A taxi journey will take approximately 30 minutes.
